Nathan
I am not a Jimmy or carl fan but they had a good battle. and jay you have to let it go NA$CAR will never go back to the correct system ever again. But thats why I enjoy the trucks so much. lets hope that camping world doesn't let NASCAR mess it up.

racer61
Im still puzzled, at Texas and at Homestead Edwards won on great fuel mileage. Good for him. How come he was allowed by Na$car to run below the posted minimum speed for over 3 laps? Which I believe it was Kurt Busch at Texas who was asked to pick up his speed or park it. Carl was never warned or blackfalgged and at Texas nearly caused 2 large accident by running so slow. Damn near took out his teammate today because he ran up on him so fast. Whats the deal? Its ok for some teams but not others?

firemdk
regardless it was a good show and that's really all it is anymore is a show. I agree that this is the reason I focus on the Truck series. Those guys go balls out from green to checkers and they are a class act. I am by no means a Johnny Benson fan and am a full blown Hornaday fan but it shows class when the 2nd place guy comes up and truely wants to congratulate the winner. If Nascar really wants to put money back into the sport, get rid of these outrageous purse payouts and put some of that money back to the teams that finished in the back to help with their programs. 7 million dollars just in championship money is a bit outrageous
HiTech
if the auto companys go bottom up ..we wont have to worry about nascar anyway ...lol ..points system and 7 million dallors wont matter either ..
supertx
If that was a good show I would rather watch golf on TV.The race was boring and the race for the championship was boring. The cup series only has a couple of races a yr. that's even worth watching. When some one has a flat and that's the only drama give me a break. Jerry
7 Million for a championship is outragous. Look at the NHRA, Cruz Pedregon won the funny car championship and only got 500 Thousand.

speed demon 7
And if Edwards won the championship in the same manner, you would not complain. They new that is what it was going into the deal. I know you are pretty upset about Gordon not winning last season too, because of the chase, right??? HiTech
7 Million for a championship is outragous. Look at the NHRA, Cruz Pedregon won the funny car championship and only got 500 Thousand. But not nearly as outragous as $64 million a year to swing a stick. 7 million does not go to the driver anyway .. he only gets a percentage ....but some of those top drivers earn two and three times that in one year ..so pocket change for some ..64 million for a stick swinger .thats to much maybe ..but someday my son may be a pitcher in the majors ..he is working hard for it .ill tell you if he is offered 64 million .i bet he wont turn it down ..... teams can only get away with paying that if fans keep showing up for games and paying the ticket price to see that 64 million player play ...same with nascar ..football ..any sport ..goes back to my last post .i know of noone that will refuse it ....you would not id bet ...lol Edited November 17, 2008 by oldtimer

Ariel66
If it was still the old points system they said that Jeff Gordon would have already broke Dale Earnhardt's record by now. WTG Jimmie Johnson this guy is unstopable.
landlord
Fuel mileage wins don't really count anyway! At least that's what I've been told on here before. Who said that they don't count?I did say that Danica needed to go out on the track and actually outrun someone for me to consider her a contender and I stand behind that statement.ANYONE can ride around in the back and save gas!!!!!!!!! txtom
Fuel mileage wins don't really count anyway! At least that's what I've been told on here before. Buddy, next time you see my Dad, ask him if fuel mileage races don't count. He will tell you about a family friend who built two cars that were very lightweight, and the engines were also tuned to maximize the fuel range. This owner/crewchief thought a few less pitstops than everyone else would be an advantage. So, you're asking, did it work, and who are we talking about? My Grandfather's close friend Lou Moore, who had Leo Goosen design two cars, which Emil Deidt then built. Moore and drivers Mauri Rose and Bill Holland went on to win the Indy 500 in 1947, 48, and 49 with the fuel mileage strategy in mind. "So mileage races don't count?" Well, the faces of Rose and Holland are on that Borg-Warner Trophy, and no one remembers who the really fast guy was, just who got the flowers and milk. Kathy
To me a win is a win. And if you where smart enough to save fuel, well I think that is all the more better. But, that is just my opinion.

HiTech
the leader blows a tire on the last lap .and second place wins the race ..that counts in my books ..saying winning on fuel mileage isnt a real win and dont really count .is like saying dales win in daytona under yellow does not count as real win . come on poeple it counts nomatter if its a yellow or mileage .. how many drivers won races they were not going to win unless something happend to the leader ... how many drivers won races and gave it to the guy who was leading when he had a problem and should have won ...none nadda didnt happen ... winning races comes down to many things .when did it become rule its only a real win when you beat everyone across the line with out help ... the only races i dont consider a real win is when you take the leader out to win it ..or cheat to do so ...
