IMCA Modifieds new to Friday shows at Black Rock

DUNDEE, N.Y. (Jan. 10) – A fifth division with its own unique look joins race cards this season at Black Rock Speedway.

IMCA Modifieds return to the 3/8-mle clay oval at Dundee for the first time in more than five years when opening night of the 2011 World Products Empire State Series headlines the first show of the season on Saturday, April 9.

Regular weekly programs follow on Fridays through Aug. 26 and also feature local sportsman, late model, 4-cylinder and street stock classes.

“We will have five classes of race cars with entirely different looks. All have their own following and are very viable for this part of the country,” promoter Dean Hoag said. “I’ve always been interested in sanctioning with IMCA and the opportunity finally arose to do that this year.”

“Being affiliated with a national sanctioning body, we can give our Modified drivers a place to race for national points and point funds,” he added.

Black Rock will be part of IMCA’s ButlerBuilt Eastern Region. The one previous IMCA sanctioned event held there was the final event of the 2006 Empire State Series.

“Since then, we’ve widened the track to 75 feet and removed the inside concrete wall, and that’s provided the greatest racing you could imagine. In the usual Black Rock Speedway style, there will be additional special events for this great class throughout the season,” said Hoag. “We’ve always had a fan friendly environment, and we had the best track conditions ever last year.”
