JamesHigdon
Well, we are back home. We where going to make it out right at 6 for the first race and there is zero parking and the people are stacked shoulder to shoulder. I'm disappointed we didn't get to catch the race but more thrilled about the FACT that asphalt racing is back to stay in San Antonio. Congratulations to Brian and Chris on a show well put-together! JamesHigdon
Just talked to a guy that made it out there at 5pm, he said it was packed then and by opening ceremonies it was standing room only. He's been a dirt track guy his entire life and is going into the pits after the race to see if any of the Chargers are for sale, sounds like its been a success! For those that know the track, this is off their facebook page from the highway looking back towards the stands...biggest Crowd I've ever seen there! fast18
Got there @ 5:30 and found parking but the bleachers were almost filled and were packed shortly after. Heard it announced that there were about 4000 people seated in the bleachers. It was that way when we left just before the end of the last race. Great show, wish I had my Super there. AMRacer89
That was my pic as we were waiting to get into the track. Great job by the crews to get this place running again, by the drivers for putting on an awesome show, and the 4,000+ fans that showed up for this! It was great to see racing back at this place, good to hear some names we haven't heard in a while, and great to see Debbie Williams out there on the front stretch keeping the guys in check. I'm in the process of uploading crappy cell phone pics and videos. I'll link to them whenever I get done with it. I had never worked pit row before, but I sure enjoyed it. I'm completely worn out from three full days at the race track, but it was so worth it!!! Thanks to everyone who came out to show their support and see some awesome racing on the high banks again.
nightmoves 99
THANKS!!! To all the crew that worked their hearts out to get that done. The only complaint my wife and I heard was " no place to sit". I wanted to say well get here earlier than 15 minutes before the races are suppose to start and you'll find a seat! We got their at 4:45 and it was alreay tight! A really great night of racing!!! THanks again!!

He always is fun to watch in a modified. Anthony gordon was fast and putting on a good show. Rick pollaro was also fast and looking good out there. Brandon was digging and digging to catch casey and didnt give up or cut any slack. Great job.

debwill
Yes, Ford27, I had an emotional minute during the opening ceremonies. I had a great time working on pit row both Friday and Saturday. I'm beyond exhausted, but I thank Brian and Chris for giving me the opportunity to do something I had never done before. And my sincere thanks goes out to Rodney Rodriguez for giving me the honor to give the "Start your Engines" command for the Modified feature race. What a night!! VideoGuy
Debbie did an awesome job out there. She was totally focused and even did a little sprint to get back behind the wall. Great job! I think that was my doing. lol I was right there video taping Her and Rodney when she gave the Driver Start your Engines.. A tribute to her. For her love for the racing family's. We shot some memorable footage. Lots thanks go out to many on this event. There are many to list but It wouldn't have been the same with out Debbie and Rodney's dedication and love for racing. Was great to see everyone. I like it when i smile. lol. ;o) Thad.
RodneyRodriguez
What a night! Opening ceremonies were emotional to say the least! It was my pleasure to be a part of this event. hray
Well, I'm beat!!!! We had 6 mos to prepare for this and still worked 'til 2 am Thur and noon on Fri. Got to track in time for 1 practice on a new car. Not a good idea. No brakes in qualifying. In feature, bolt fell out of rearend drive shaft yoke and had to pull off early. Frustrating!!!! The lesson here is don't try to shake down a new car in a major feature race. Here's the bottom line-----WE HAD FUN AND SO DID THE 11 OTHER FAMILY AND FRIENDS WE HAD IN OUR PIT. If the track runs any races next year I only have 2 requests - put some VHT in the turns until the track takes some rubber and fix the patch in turn 1. Good job UTS. chevyfan
i asked them bout this in a email , here is the answer i got " it would be a great problem to have , if there are 3000 people sitting in the grandstands on the 20th i will be extatic " , well looks like to me they got way more than that ! had to turn away from over crowding . WOW what a great show i had blast there .... hope we get to do that again !
JamesHigdon
Kenny, like I'd said we where pretty disappointed not getting in to see the race (with our $120 worth of wrist bands!) but no one said anything about that on the way back, instead we where excited to see the response to the track! I'll gladly miss ONE race to be assured many more in the future! Rodney, Terry Berson (I think that was the other announcer?) and you need to start a traveling show, that was pretty good on Friday night! RodneyRodriguez
James and everyone thank you for your kind words. I had so many ways I wanted to work the details of this event but when I looked up and saw the stands and looked at the pits I forgot all of it and just let it happen. Terry is the man with the plan, he jumped in and just told it like he saw it! So many shout outs I missed I bet but its ok, thats what happens when you blow the roof off a place! Still on a high folks.... I thank Brian and Chris for letting me be a part of historyand thank all the drivers, crews, fans for enjoying the show with me. For what its worth coming from me: Without the lap counter you were letting us know in the stands where we were in the race as well. Flagging isn't easy, and everyone has their own style - and some don't have any at all :-) As for style points, I haven't been to many races in the last year or so, but it's been awhile since I've seen the double checkereds waved like that. Again, for what its worth, I think you did a great job and I honestly wondered why you didn't have an assistant .
